Kim & I visited the Fairyland of FairyLove this weekend… a huge old home set in the country near Hereford. We all met at Hereford station (after a fairly panicky episode to get to the Paddington station in London- lines down because of signal failure or re-development over the weekend which we are finding is a common occurrence here!) & convoyed to Wicton Court. Beccy gave Kim & I a ride. She is one of the Fairy potentials. Such an awesome paint job on her car, flowers & buzzy bees & a lace mandala on the bonnet.
Amazingly, Shelley & Jason Fairy had only moved into their palace the previous Tuesday. We were all wowed out by the majickal atmosphere they had created in such a short time, but I was especially appreciative of the grounds- lush green grass everywhere & a pond too! So fantastic to be out of London & in the land of the Woodland folk!
We started the morning off with some games to introduce yourself. I especially liked the ‘porn star’ game- you take the name of your first pet & your mother’s maiden name so I was “Rough Stanton”. Daisy’s was Marmalade Paradise! So fantastic! We did a fair bit of frisbee throwing to get the jist of each others natural & porn names. Then we did some team building games like: all standing in a circle then grabbing someone else’s hand with each of yours & trying to untangle the group & going back to back & trying to stand up. Heaps of giggles & silly fun! The trickiest one for me was to tell 2 truths & 1 lie, everyone has to guess which one is a lie. I was good at guessing the lies but had great difficulty coming up with something tricky enough- I was the last one to share mine, which was pretty easy!
We got to meet Izzy & Maisey, daughters of Caitlin from next door. Izzy is such a gentle, loving being… I barely said a word to her the whole weekend but I could just feel so much compassionate energy from her I almost melted! Maisey kept us all pretty entertained too with her crazy wiggly feet & tooth- definitely made from Fairy majick! A lovely lunch feast was had & then it was on to the more serious stuff- activities extra-relevant to the whole interview thing. We did these individually. I was the first to go for the mock-stall set-up. One room simulated the FairyLove stall in a state of disarray after a day at the festi, & I had 30mins to get it presentable before beginning the sales side of it. Rosa observed me as I did this, she is an apprentice Fairy. I guess I got too caught up in rabbitting away to her because before I knew it Hamish was there pretending to be in search for something for his niece. I managed to convince him to get her a tutu & wings, but he was a fairly easy customer I reckon. I don’t think I did a very good job of fixing up the stall but I had fun anyway. Hamish is a close fairy-friend of the fairies- he used to go to school with Jason.
Next task was a writing one where I had a few questions to answer- what could go wrong on the way to a festival, at the festival & departing the festival… then PING PONG with Hamish & each time I lost a rally (almost everytime- shame!) Jason would ask me a question & vice versa. Jason then took me into the lounge to explain more about the business side of FairyLove & then piggybacked me out to the garden so I could show him my yelling-at-a-thief skills.
We stopped for a wee tea break & then dress-up! I went upstairs to the Fairy’s dress-up room & had the task of choosing a few costumes for Daisy while Shelley observed. Daisy is another fairy potential. I’ve never dressed anyone up before but I think it went ok- I really liked how she looked anyway! I took pics of her for Shelley & then it was my turn to be dressed up by Blanche, another fairy-to-be! She put this super hilarious green mermaid wig on me, a bit too fluro for my skin colour but fun nonetheless. Oh, & fish-net stockings! Never ever worn them before , but I’m pretty sure I would again if I got the chance. In the second combo Blanche chose this pink wig… much more to my liking!
We all pitched in to help Caitlin prepare the veges for dinner- they have a huge kitchen big enough for six people to create together & not get in each others way. Caitlin has taught us the word ‘lovekin’. Such a warm, effervescent being of light! She lives next door & teaches people to sing- I’d feel super privileged to have her teach me one day- if only! (The next day we got to hear her & Izzy singing together- super wowee-zowee!)
Then we all chilled by the fire sipping bubbly & listening to the new Tool album, I grabbed the chance of listening to it on an awesome sound system having only listened to it once on Bodra’s laptop. Everyone buzzed out at Alex Grey’s artwork on the 3D CD cover. Another great feast (so delicious & grounding- thank you Caitlin!) & then it was time for the Fairy Party! Jason & Hamish surprised us by sneaking off & changing into their tutus & wings- my first ever males in tutus! The next challenge was set, we were to individually go up into the Fairy’s dress-up room & choose our own costume for the night. Kimmy dashed off first & then reappeared in blue. (See the pics- she was absolutely exquisite!) Then I went up & oh so spoilt for choice, but I went by impulse & was soon back to the party. Pink wigged! So much fun!
We had a fair bit of a Fairy Stomp & lots of chatter. As it got close to midnight Shelley shared the next activity- dishes & then up & ready in our Fairy-wear by 8am. (For what???) The seemingly arduous task of dishes for 10 people was done in a matter of minutes-go the team work! I laid my clothes out ready for the morning & went to sleep in excited silent giggles.
& the what was a Car Boor Sale! We drove back to Hereford & shared our Fairy-Selves with the folk there, giving people fairy wishes (glitter cream for their faces) & Fairy-Poo (sweets). Shelley & Jason gave us £2.00 each & part of the mornings task was also to find the most interesting thing for that price. I found a little silver trinket box & a rotund ducky puppet of yellow plush that could quack-sing. It was so majickal seeing peoples faces light up as you approach them & welcome their smile, & being able to interact with people in that role was equally special. I’ll definitely never forget the sparkle in this older mans eyes as I dabbed the glitter onto his face as he told me he’d never worn glitter before. Heheh, & it was such an ego boost telling people that we’d been so busy dancing the night before, trying to create the beautiful day that we had before us now & how we just wanted to share the sunlight with them! We were all Tuatha de Danaan! Revelling in the blue sky & brilliant sunshine- & there had been a forecast for clouds & storm! Pish!
Back to Wicton Court for breakfast… prepared-ish by me! I got the job of delegating & initially I freaked, probably the hardest task I had to do the whole weekend, but how can you go wrong when you have five Fairies (including Hamish) helping you! French Toast (Gypsy Bread) with Banana & honey & bacon. We all reflected on the mornings experience & then shared our £2.00 scores. Jason picked up this vinyl pink handbag & shared us the story of how when he was wee he would say ‘kinky’ for the colour pink! Blanche found this amazing glass slipper that sparkled in the sunlight & a comb & brush set. Beccy discovered this super twisted Humpty Dumpty money bank with swirly spinny eyeballs. Daisy found some indian-inspired incense holders, a fairy ornament & cupcake & a fabulous coat. Kimmy scored a policeman-styled hat with a double-winged emblem. Rosa bought an amazing red dress with sparkly-sequinny-beads on the bodice & then chiffon skirt- can’t believe that was for £2.00! I can’t remember what Hamish or Shelley found… but I was so impressed by what everybody scored for £2.00!
Then it was a costumes back (sigh!) & tidy up time before we went for our interviews, one on three- Jason, Shelley & Rosa. The first time I have ever left an interview after hugging everyone & then literally bouncing back to the front garden to wait with the others. It just feels so good when you know you have presented yourself as truthfully as you could, & you are accepted!
After the interviews we had a few more silly games out on the grass in the sun (heheh it was raining in London!). Rosa showed us a different way of giving a group hug where you stand in a circle & then the first person goes around hugging everyone individually then the next person (who got the first hug) follows & so on. She said she used to do it during her Quakers activities & sometimes it would take an hour!
Our gorgeous clan wandered towards a most majickal place. Through a cunt (I’m not being rude! I think Jason said it was the Olde English word to mean ‘a gap in the hedge’ but I’ve tried googling to find out for sure but ahd no success yet- but this was a funny website http://www.gurl.com/findout/label/pages/0,,674960,00.html), across a few fields & then through the forest where Jason & Izzy had seen wild deer one morning. Down to their precious waterfall! Layers of moss-drenched stone & cascading water. Maisey showed me what fairies do, washing her leg with the green moss. Jase, Hamish & Shelley all bared themselves to the chill; I washed my rose quartz in the water but I couldn’t convince myself to plunge beneath the waterfall- no towel & I really don’t want a cold just now.
Back to Wicton Court for our final meal together… hugs & farewells. Maisey gave me a super delicious cuddle & kiss- little people know how! Beccy chauffeured us out to the station again, more hugs then a dash to the platform & waiting train that the conductor had pointed us to. Suddenly Kim & I were on our way to Wales! Wrong train! That tricksy conductor man! But we were pretty stoked anyway, we got off at Newport in Wales & waited around for the next train to London. Pretty funny language that Welsh! No idea how things COULD be pronounced! Kim & I got on a first class carriage (oh-lah-lah! An extra £10.00 however) & then I began writing my letter to FairyLove & Kim began preparing her speech for her job interview the next day.
It was 8:30pm by the time we got back to Paddington. I left Kim to wait for her Ezra & dashed around trying to get back to Leytonstone. Followed the sign saying ‘Subways’ & went through the Oyster Card scanner only to discover that my line was not there- very mysterious! I wanted the Hammersmith, & then I saw a sign pointing back the way I had come. So I returned through the scanner, dashed past Kimmy (quick hug) & missioned across the station to the Hammersmith line, only to discover that it was not operating! Grrrrrr!!!! I vented my vexation at the man behind the glass & he giggled with me, then told me to go back, once agin, from whence I had came! Aaarrrrggghhh!!! But c’est la vie! Another quick giggle & hug with Kimmy. I was soon on board a tube & counting down the stops until I could see my love.
& waiting patiently he was. I sped off the tube, raced down through the passageway & slammed into his hug, showering him with tinkly giggles & excitement from the weekend.
So I may not have had the result I thought I wanted. Jase phoned today & told me I was too vulnerable to be involved at the Festi’s. It may not be true in my heart, but that was his professional perception. Fairynuff; you do need to be strong to handle the pace & if they can’t see it in me then it’s not worth the risk employing someone who may jeopardise the sales. SoulClipse was my biggest festival & I was overwhelmed there, imagine what it would be like as a stall-holder! I thought I had done my best to prove that I could be strong. I’ve done some pretty crazy stuff in this life, definitely without fear too! But I couldn’t convince them the worth of that.
I have been invited to go WOOFing there starting next Monday, which would be great as I still get to be a part of the creativity. Kimmy is doing it all, which is wonderful. She was so fantastic at the Car Boot Sale, shimmering all over the place, vibing her iridescent being to one & all. She is definitely a natural in all the scenarios they through with us. I’d like to think that I could do it all too, if someone was just willing to share their experience & skills with me. But a natural talent is far more valuable. I’m very proud of Kimmy, I know she is going to give them so much… heheh & whatever she learns from FairyLove she’ll share with me, so basically, I get the goods without the hard work! Heheh! Always look on the bright side of life!
So I wonder who the other was! Daisy, who just exudes Festival wisdom & undoubtedly has the gift of the gab! I could see her dominating over any of the drunken, stirring louts with ease & energy! Or Blanche, someone who definitely has lived at the bottom of the garden, amidst the primroses & bluebells! (I’m still so tinkled-pink you chose that wig for me!) Could it be Beccy, abundant with charisma, enchantment & friendliness that reaches all. All who wear their Fairy-fied selves with such grace, beauty & pizzazz! & then there is Kimmy! So, so proud of you! Teehee!!!
It’s after 3am as I finish this up, Bodra curled up on the lazy-boy beside me, breathing softly. He was so happy to have me back, having had a fairly boring weekend with the rain, TV & Internet Poker. Tony came over to collect mail so I am to get in touch with him to set up an interview for House of Fraser. A plus in the search for something to keep us afloat although Bodra says I can take my time to find something that is truely ‘right’ for me. He’ll support me. I just want to be out there with a purpose & place in this grand scheme of things. I thought I was getting close…
