Efes & Ephesus

I went on my first wine tasting journey today through the delicious Sirince.  Raspberry, Quince, Honeydew Melon, Strawberry, Mulberry, Apple, Cherry, Red & White.  Mmmmmmm!  Together (all six of us) we bought 7 bottles… a bit of a greed-fest but they are oh so tasty!  About to watch Gallipolli (Gelibolu) in the Selcuk (Sel-chook) Artemis Hotel lounge & to begin guzzling back the sweet fruits of Sirince.  I’m sampling a glass of Peach wine now- yum!

This morning we wandered through Ephesus & snapped away… apparently only 25% has been uncovered & restored.  I was most impressed by the library… & the purple trees… pics to come once we have a faster connexion!

ALSO we had our first Turkish rug store experience.  A guy picked us up from our hotel this morning to take us to Ephesus.  We followed him to what we thought would be his car, but it was actually a rug store.  We were plied with Turkish tea- apple, orange & lemon- but not pushed.  The store had a kiwi painted on the store window.

After Ephesus we returned to the store & were shown all the varieties of Turkish rugs.  Bodra really liked the naturally dyed carpets.  I fell in love with the Magic Carpet one as it had a cool story to go with it.  If you sit on it & drink enough Ouzo (1 bottle) you may discover the secret word to entice the carpet into flight!  But they were all completely out of our budget, especially as we haven’t a house to put them in.  Hopefully one day we will return!

The owner of the store directed us to lunch at his wife’s restaurant- Amazon Cafe.  We were all pleased with the feed & returned there after Sirince for dinner.

Having heaps of fun!
