…& that’s where the fun began!

Home Grown Dreams… our first real Amsterdam experience!  Awesome atmosphere & a fantastic menu.

Amsterdam is amazing, a true city of art!  Everywhere you look, stunning architecture & every wall has some kind of masterpiece on it.  The crisp air & light skies make a perfect backdrop for this city of brick & sculpture.

Yesterday we found ourselves wandering all over, Bodra & Kim able to guide us everywhere & me content to trail them snapping at virtually everything.  A total feast for the eyes!

We found a real cute toy shop that had a puppy version of Perriwinkle aswell as a few grizzlys that resembled Bear.  An amazing chocolate shop that had our mouths watering as soon as our noses hit it.  We toasted then devoured cranberry, nutmeg & sweet creamy chocolates… we will be returning for more adventures in chocolatatey land!  Dinner was at a lovely Thai restaurant which had authentic looking Buddhist art & fairly delicious meals.

Felix’s keyboard is Germanized with the z & y in different places.  A little tricky to get used to!

Today we shall be going to Foam a photographic gallery & maybe to a museum.  There is plenty of sun outside, all the trees are skeletons & slender from their winter fast.  We’re all well rested & ready for another day of exploring!

Aotearoa to Singapore to Amsterdam!!!

Hello family & friends!  We are now in the chilly land of Amsterdam.  It’s a pleasant change from the sweat trickling down our back in Singapore, but you have to be pretty alert to avoid getting run down by a bike or a tram!

We have all been feeling a bit weird from the flight ordeal, as if we are on a boat & are still swaying around… we got in at 6am this morning and it is ow 2:45pm & I’m still swaying!

Anyway, Singapore was very groovy- calm, warm & fun.  Carolyn was an amazing hostess & she really enjoyed our company as it gave her an excuse to check out the sights too.  We really loved the botanical gardens & the special orchid section.  It was pretty unusual as there were heaps of out-of-it specimens that we hadn’t seen before.  We also were about to see the rehearsal of an arts festival that was happening that night.  We got to see a man play this Violin called a Gaohu or something & it was just like out of Crounchig Tiger Hidden Dragon- very romantic music!

Then we went on the Night Safari of this zoo & the highlight for Ezra was seeing an Otter spin a can around over & over again- he was meant to put it into a rubbish bin & leave it there but he spent about 5 minutes putting it in & taking it out,  putting it in & taking it out, & spinning it around.  I really enjoyed being able to see the animals in an environment that was natural for them.  & we saw this big black furry bear thing… that was cool!  Not to mention the flying squirrel that flew at me & freaked me out.

Saying goodbye to Carolyn was hard, as was saying goodbye to our NZ families!  Carolyn wore this beautiful bright pink top on our trip back to the airport & after we had farewelled her & made our way through the gates, we kept getting glimpses of her thruout the airport, waving goodbye to us… very touching!

Time runig out at Internet Cafe… until net time!
